Education

Professor Iria Giuffrida is a seasoned international disputes lawyer and a leading academic authority, with extensive experience advising clients on high-value and complex contentious and transactional matters in domestic and international contexts. Her work in international arbitration under ICC and LCIA rules and litigation before national courts spans various sectors, including financial services, energy, construction, information technology, competition, and data protection. Her experience encompasses matters carrying significant commercial and regulatory exposure, requiring regular and tight collaboration with cross-border teams. She has been entrusted with responsibility for core strategic, procedural, and evidential aspects of proceedings, from early case assessment through to hearings, settlement, and resolution.


Professor Giuffrida serves as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs & Development at William & Mary and Professor of the Practice of Law at the Law School. Her research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and law. She consults with Hexagon on matters related to AI, cybersecurity, and technology-driven legal risk, drawing on her expertise in AI governance, data privacy, and the legal and ethical implications of emerging technologies. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
